Free firmware update for European DV-470 / DV-575A DVD players

Pioneer has decided to integrate in the European DV-470 / DV-575A DVD players support for playback of external subtitle files linked to DivX files, in as far as these are relying on the ISO 8859-1 font set (more details can be found below).

This requires an update of the player's internal system control software ("firmware"), which can be done by the end-user using a free-of-charge Software Update Disc. The disc will be sent to you on simple request.

This update is optional, and users who do not need the described functionality can continue using their player as is.

Already updated players will feature support for playback of external subtitle files linked to DivX files, so if this works on your player, no further action is required.

How to get a free-of-charge Software Update Disc

In case you want to update your DV-470 / DV-575A DVD player, please contact your local Pioneer organisation ( http://www.pioneer-eur.com/contact ) - to request a "Software Update Disc".

The disc will be sent to you free-of-charge shortly after.

The Software Update Discs for the DV-470 and the DV-575A are different. Please only use a disc that has the model number of your player on the disc labelling side.

How to update the system control software using the Software Update Disc

Use the "Software Update Disc" provided by Pioneer to update the system control software in accordance with the instructions that come with the disc. Installing the software update is a simple process and can easily be carried out by the end consumer. The update process will complete in less than 5 minutes.

After updating, some of the user-customisable settings of the player may be reset to the original "fresh-out-of-the-box" defaults. Please verify in advance of the update if there are any such customisations, and where necessary re-apply the desired changes in the user-customisable settings of the player after the update.

1. Turn on the player, and open the disc tray
2. Put the Software Update Disc on the tray, and close the tray
3. A screen will be displayed inviting you to push the "play" button to start the update
