FAQ - HDD & DVD Recorder
How do I connect and install my receiver with my DVD recorder?
This depends on the type of receiver and DVD recorder.
For Video:
- Using an HDMI cable, assign the input on the receiver. Alternatively, if there is a component output, connect the blue, green and red cable to the input of the receiver. With this connection you must also assign the input.
- You can also use an S-Video or composite cable (yellow) to connect the DVD recorder
For Audio:
- You can use the same HDMI cable for audio (except the VSX-1016V, VSX-917V and VSX-1017AV. You will also need a digital connection for the audio with the VSX-1016V, VSX-917V and VSX-1017AV).
- If possible use a digital connection (optical or coaxial, if needed a converter from optical to coaxial can be used) which will provide the highest quality (5.1 surround audio possible).
- When you make a digital connection you must assign it. If the amplifier has no digital inputs, the analogue audio output (cinch connection) should be used. In this case only stereo audio will be sent from the DVD recorder/player to the receiver.
