Pioneer upgrades SMA wireless speaker systems with vTuner Internet radio

Pioneer Europe is integrating the benefits of internet music services and control options into its recently released SMA series wireless speaker systems, adding the popular vTuner internet radio service that offers access to thousands of internet radio stations around the world. With a firmware update, vTuner Internet Radio is now built right into all three wireless speaker models, the XW-SMA4, XW-SMA3 and XW-SMA1. Via the free Pioneer ControlApp, available for both Apple iOS and Android operating systems, users will be able to adjust the volume of their music.

“Adding vTuner to our new SMA wireless speaker systems greatly expands the user’s audio entertainment options by giving him access to thousands of internet radio stations,” said Tim Goethals, Product Planner Home AV at Pioneer Europe. “And with Pioneer’s free ControlApp, anyone can conveniently control the music’s volume, right from a compatible Apple or Android device.”

Pioneer’s SMA wireless sound systems produce exceptional audio playback with sound tuning by Pioneer’s chief speaker designer Andrew Jones. Each of the models features AirPlay¹, DLNA and built-in Wi-Fi. All systems support Wireless Direct, which enables users to stream their music to the speaker virtually anywhere and anytime, without a wireless router.

• XW-SMA1
  Features dual 3-inch speakers and a 26mm soft dome tweeter, and uses a tuned bass reflex port to enhance bass response. Available in black and white.
   
• XW-SMA3
  Using identical audio components as the XW-SMA1-K, the XW-SMA3-K model adds a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery and a tough exterior for added convenience and portability. When battery power is used, music playback lasts up to 4 hours at maximum volume and up to 6 hours at 50 percent volume. Available in black and white.
   
• XW-SMA4
  Features five speakers, including dual 3-inch speakers, a dedicated 4-inch subwoofer and dual 26mm soft dome tweeters. Available in black.
