A Point of Interest, or POI, is a specific location that you may find useful or interesting during your journey.

Points of Interest are places like hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, tourist venues, parking lots; even cash machines.

Our sat nav systems have a large amount of POI’s stored in memory. Certain POI’s, such as hotel chains or petrol stations, can be displayed on the map with their specific company logos or with a 3D icon.

You can search for a POI by name, category or via the Destination Search according to the city. This is helpful when trying to locate a hotel, store or even a golf course without an immediate address at hand.

The Vicinity Search displays specific POIs in the surrounding vicinity. You can also search by cuisine-type restaurant listings.

More than 2,000 of Europe’s most famous landmarks have been included in our navigation software.

These landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Coliseum in Rome are available when navigating in 3D Mode.

TMC stands for Traffic Messaging Channel.

Our system’s TMC receiver keeps you updated on current traffic events and suggest alternative routes.

In countries where real-time TMC traffic information is broadcast (see the list below), the system indicates the traffic events on a map within a range of 150 kilometres and presents you with an alternative route in order to avoid the traffic event.

A special menu function lists all the current traffic events in the area and even sorts them by distance or event.

Voice Recognition lets you give voice commands to control a number of navigation, Bluetooth and audio functions.

This technology can recognise and accept words in conversational speech, by filtering out any unnecessary sounds and phrases, so you don’t have to memorise a list of preset commands.

Voice recognition functions other than address input work with the listed 6 languages independent of country; for example, in Belgium you can use Dutch or French for hands free call by voice.

A Parrot Bluetooth Module will enable the connection between your Pioneer receiver or navigation system to almost any Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.

It also enables you to download upgrades for your receiver or navigation system from the ‘Support;’ section of our website (if you change phones, for example).

Plug in and play your iPod.

Using an optional cable or adapter (check the product features on the product page to see which one you’ll need), you can connect your iPod directly to your system.

RCA pre-outs enable you to easily expand your sound system. Depending on whether your NavGate unit comes with 1 or 3 RCA pre-outs, you can customise your sound system with separate amplifiers for the front speakers, the rear speakers and/or the subwoofer.

The RCA pre-outs let you create the exact sound you want, with the focus on complete flexibility.

By providing a strong signal with less noise and more definition, the high-volt pre-outs reduce demand on an amplifier’s input circuit, so it can work with lower gain settings. This results in improved sound quality and a wider dynamic range.
