Gruss

fantastic piece of kit! highly recommended By Nicolas, United Kingdom on 31/01/2011

purchased the mvh-800bt to replace my old deh-p65bt unit for the fact that I could get USB connectivity along with ipod direct control when needed (nowadays no real need for CD players).

This unit is fantastic for both audio and video with sound being very crisp and fully manageable through the simple user interface. The image quality on video is superb with very vibrant colour, even though it lacks a tad of contrast on bright scenes it more than makes up for it in general.

I have hooked up my 12" JL w3 to it and this unit really brings out the potential of the sub, using the 8 channel frequency settings is a doddle (or even having the unit configure it automatically using it's built in feature for less experienced).

This is most possibly Pioneer's best media unit to date, the customisable side being very useful to integrate into any vehicle's surroundings.

I only have 3 small niggles about it really...

1. Pioneer could have made tv tuner compatability a feature on this, rounding it off neatly
2. temporary memory to store info on a plugged in USB drive is small (only remembers location of file previously playing), so running audio off a HDD over 8Gb will mean if the playback is interrupted it will need to rescan the whole disk before playing again
3. The bluetooth sometimes fails to reconnect to the paired device when powered back on, but the positives highly outweigh the negatives

overall, a simply fantastic DIN unit which I will find hard to replace.

MVH-8200 Car Stereo is Sunday Times' Gadget of the Week

At one time drivers relied on eight-track cartridge players for their in-car tunes. Next came cassette systems, then CD players. Technology takes no prisoners, as we know, and this new Pioneer car stereo ditches CD playback entirely. Instead, it offers an SD memory-card slot and a socket for plugging in a USB pen drive or an iPod.

Pioneer has utilised the extra fascia space that binning a CD drive creates to add a 3in LCD screen so you can show off your photos and films.
