I purchased the LX508 TV in June 2008. The WIN and ABC channels were bad pixel reception and freezing of screen. As I had Foxtel then I watched ABC on it. When I bought the TV where was also a redemption offer for a DVR-550HX-S which I received. The tuner on this picked up the ABC and WIN channels with very little pixelation but a lot of freezing and blank seconds on all channels. If I watched WIN I did it through the DVR. The installers said it was a poor reception area and I needed to get a bigger aerial. A higher 4 meter aerial was installed but did not make any difference. A few months ago I got rid of Foxtel and therefore had no suitable ABCs. I rang Pioneer service center and they said to check the connections as it was definitely not the TV from what I had told them. We, the electrican and aerial installer, checked all connections, no change. We remover the booster and the TV had a clearer picture with no pixelulation on ABCs and WINs. The DVR did not improve.
A question i have is why did not the Pioneer installers check the signal strength and check the connections to see if OK. You spend a lot of $$ on new connections around the TV, DVR, Foxtel and receiver but not to the aerial. This is causing great frustration now I am retired and watching more TV. I am looking at upgrading to another PVR in the next few days that records HD channels , 2 tuners and hopefully better reception.
