AVIC-S2 Software Update (August 2007)

Here you can download a software update for your AVIC-S2.

Please note that this software update is valid for the European AVIC-S2 model only. Please do not apply it to another regional version.

This update contains bug fixes for any possible malfunction of the scroll wheel and volume indicator, as well as minor application bug fixes.

Before you start, make sure that you have installed Pioneer Sync Manager from the DVD-ROM that was supplied with your device.

During the update process, you should not disconnect the USB cable, turn off the device, enter into standby mode, or reset the unit or shut down the computer, enter the computer into stand-by mode or restart the computer.

Now, follow the two easy download steps below:

1. Update USB driver.

Please run the USB driver update before the navigation software update.

1-1 Download "Pioneer_AVICS2_USBDRIVER.zip" here.

1-2 Close all running programs on your computer, and double-click on the downloaded file to extract its contents.

1-3 Turn OFF and ON your AVIC-S2 by slide switch on the rear panel.

1-4 Connect AVIC-S2 to PC using the supplied USB cable. Wait until your computer has detected your device. When you connect your device to the PC, in most cases ActiveSync will start automatically and will ask you to set-up a partnership. Please select "No" if this happens.

1-5 Double-click “Installdriver.exe” which you have extracted from downloaded file. If the update process doesn’t start automatically, open the folder containing the downloaded file by selecting “Start” on your PC taskbar, and then selecting "Run" on the menu. Enter the location you saved the downloaded file and click OK. The update process will start automatically.

1-6 Please click OK to the message window to ensure the USB connection, as below:



1-7 When the update is completed, you'll see this message on your computer:

2. Update navigation software.

2-1-1 If the serial number (which you can find on the back of your device, underneath the barcode) of your AVIC-S2 ends with the letters "EW", download "Pioneer_AVICS2 200708EW.zip" here.

2-1-2 If the serial number (which you can find on the back of your device, underneath the barcode) of your AVIC-S2 ends with the letters "RE", download "Pioneer_AVICS2 200708RE.zip" here.

2-2 Close all running programs on your computer, and double-click on the downloaded file to extract its contents.

2-3 Turn OFF and ON your AVIC-S2 by slide switch on the rear panel.

2-4 Connect AVIC-S2 to PC using the supplied USB cable. Wait until your computer has detected your device. When you connect your device to the PC, in most cases ActiveSync will start automatically and will ask you to set-up a partnership. Please select "No" if this happens.

2-5 Double-click “Setup.exe” which found in the folder you have extracted from downloaded file. If the update process doesn’t start automatically, open the folder containing the downloaded file by selecting “Start” on the taskbar, and then selecting Run on the menu. Enter the location you saved the downloaded file and click OK.

2-6 Select your language from the menu.

2-7 Select “”Upgrade/Restore application” from the menu. The update process will start automatically.

2-8 When the update is completed, you'll see this message on your computer:





2-9 Please disconnect AVIC-S2 from USB cable.
