Sound is coming out of my plasma instead of the AV Receiver: how can I rectify this?

Check the HDMI setting in the AV options menu of the receiver/amplifier. Change the setting as follows:

• AMP: audio is processed and outputted by the amplifier
• THROUGH: audio is sent to the connected TV or plasma display

 

If your AV Receiver has HDMI switching, it's not possible to decode audio from the HDMI input.
