Air Jam and iControlAV2: new apps for 2011 AV receivers
Introducing Air Jam and iControlAV2, two new apps that can turn an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 4.2 into sources for entertainment and control of our new high performance VSX-921 and VSX-1021 AV receivers.
27 April 2011
Pioneer introduces two new high performance AV receivers that include Apple's AirPlay for network music streaming. With AirPlay, Pioneer’s VSX-921 and VSX-1021 7.1-channel home cinema receivers become the hub for sound entertainment, giving music lovers complete access, playback and control of their entire iTunes music library as well as the music stored on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Once the VSX-921 / VSX-1021 is connected to a home network through Ethernet or wireless (using Pioneer’s optional AS-WL300 wireless LAN converter), AirPlay lets consumers stream their favourite songs to the receiver from iTunes through a Mac or PC, their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. On a Mac or PC, AirPlay requires iTunes 10.1 or later; an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch should be running iOS 4.21.
Along with AirPlay Pioneer also announces Air Jam and iControlAV2, two new apps that can turn an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 4.2 into sources for entertainment and control of its new high performance VSX-921 and VSX-1021 audio video receivers.
Pioneer’s new Air Jam App is a unique app that allows users of the VSX-921 and VSX-1021, equipped with the optional AS-BT200 Bluetooth adapter, to share their favourite music tracks directly through the receiver. The Air Jam1 App can simultaneously connect up to four source devices to the receiver via Bluetooth, giving users the ability to create a group playlist from each device’s music content.
Owners of the VSX-921 or VSX-1021 can also use their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to control the receiver, connected to a home network through Ethernet or wireless (using Pioneer’s optional AS-WL300 wireless LAN converter), with Pioneer’s iControlAV2 App. This app brings home cinema control directly to the screen of the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and this for a multitude of functions. Both the Air Jam App and iControlAV2 App will be available soon for free from the App Store.
Air Jam, an excellent solution for home parties

VSX-1021-K
The new Air Jam App turns an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a song server at the touch of a button. By downloading the free app from the App Store and launching it on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, users can cue songs from their music library for playback, via Bluetooth, on the Pioneer receiver with ease and simplicity. Once Air Jam is launched, each device displays the list of songs and artists added by all connected users and the device from which each song will play.
During the session, each user can shuffle, select, and control the playlist. Following the session, users can recall past playlists and purchase songs from the iTunes Store with a simple touch on the screen.
The Air Jam App can be used with Pioneer’s new AV receivers, models VSX-921 and VSX-1021, equipped with the optional AS-BT200 Bluetooth adapter.
Take charge of your entertainment with iControlAV2

VSX-921-K
Pioneer’s iControlAV2 App enables VSX-921 and VSX-1021 owners to put away the included remote control and use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as their main home cinema controller, enabling direct control of the receiver’s volume, bass, balance and room settings.
The app is further enhanced when used on an iPad, with most major functions combined into a single, intuitive screen. Additional features include detailed graphic representations of before and after MCACC room calibration and sound adjustments that enable users to create their own equaliser settings with a simple “touch and draw” on the screen. The iControlAV2 App also includes Blu-ray player control when connected to a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray player.
The iControlAV2 App can be used with the VSX-921 / VSX-1021 when connected to a home network through Ethernet or wireless (using Pioneer’s optional AS-WL300 wireless LAN converter).
Compatibility and Availability
Both the Air Jam App and the iControlAV2 App require iOS 4.2 with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G, iPad and iPod touch (2nd, 3rd and 4th generation).
The new Pioneer AV receivers are available from June 2011. Both the Air Jam App and iControlAV2 App will be available soon for free from the App Store. More AirPlay devices from Pioneer will be launched in summer.
