Expanding the limits of surround sound reproduction, the VSX-AX5i-S is a high-quality receiver ready for the future with its Advanced Direct Energy MOS FET 7-channel equal power amplification (100 W x 7 DIN). The i.LINK interface guarantees high-end connectivity for direct, digital-to-digital signal transmission without data loss. This new interface is especially effective for jitter-free audio transmission of DVD-Audio, CD, and SACD discs* data. The sound is further enhanced by the receiver's internal design, which features a double-layered chassis and 3-D Space Frame Construction, as well as 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for top quality reproduction.
Clear precision sound is part of Pioneer's Advanced Multi-channel Stereophonic Philosophy, developed with the assistance of the sound engineers at London's expert AIR Studios. The Automatic Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration MCACC system with microphone monitors your sound environment and automatically adjusts your system to reach the perfect tonal level — just like the pros. The VSX-AX5i-S received the THX Select certification and can handle the full line-up of surround sound formats, including DTS 96/24, THX Surround EX/Dolby Digital EX, DTS ES Discrete 6.1, DTS NEO:6 and Pro Logic II. It also includes Pioneer's Audio Scaler, which enhances the sound quality from any source to a level approaching that of DVD-Audio.The Surround modes include the impressive Virtual Surround Back and considerate Midnight Listening mode. On top, the VSX-AX5i-S has multiple connectivity options such as the USB terminal to connect PC audio sources playback and an additional optical front input. For the final touch, the engineers added new large high-quality solid-type speaker terminals for exact signal transmission and easy installation.
